WELCOME TO W6
Welcome from Executive Headteacher – Sam Palin
Woodmansterne is a unique school. Our through school ethos, built on primary foundations of understanding and developing the whole child, provides a personalised route that allows all our students to aspire to be their very best version of themselves. From an early age we model and instil in our young people the core values we hold as a community. Wherever their talents and interests lie we are with them, in unity, on their journey to adulthood. We recognise that by this stage; our presence and role is to facilitate and guide our young people to be responsible for their own destiny. At Woodmansterne Sixth Form we continue our commitment to building cultural capital and a love of learning where students thrive by enriching our students’ learning/curriculum through experiences like theatre, film, museum visits, competition and guest speakers, field trips, work placements, career fayres, university trips and talks. Woodmansterne students have a heightened awareness of social justice and responsibility, early on in their school life they are expected to role model integrity and respect to the younger children and their peers. By taking on leadership roles, acting as mentors, reading and maths buddies and prefects, they realise the benefits of working cooperatively and see the impact of upholding and demonstrating our values on a daily basis. This is the Woody factor that will stand them apart, so when they leave our educational establishment, they do so as confident, accomplished young people, excited and ready to move on/take their next steps/ play their part in society.
Welcome from Head of School (Secondary) - Marie Nassor
We are so excited to be introducing our new sixth form, the final part of the journey from a two-form entry primary school to a 3-19 all-through school serving our local community. We are proud that we have pupils who will complete their whole educational experience with us, but also welcome all to our Woodmansterne family. At Woodmansterne there are two things, in particular, that we pride ourselves on: providing a challenging, engaging curriculum and building good relationships with our pupils. Our aim is simple for pupils to leave us as happy and successful members of society with the confidence to know what their next steps will be and the courage to take them.
Welcome from Assistant Headteacher in charge of Sixth Form - Martin Mirshemirani
Key Stage 5 presents such a wealth of opportunities to students as they fine-tune themselves into the adults they strive to become. Our job here is to successfully bridge the gap between school and the wider world, whether they have their sights on studying at university or diving straight into industry at 18. There is a greater independence of choice, a wider exercising of skill sets and a deeper level of learning. The breadth of experience we have at Woodmansterne Sixth Form enables us to adequately challenge and support post-16 learners, guiding them towards success at every phase of their time with us.As Assistant Headteacher in charge of Sixth Form, I will be your first port of call for any queries you have around curriculum and the overall Sixth Form provision. I also oversee Careers at Woodmansterne and am on hand to support with vocational and further education guidance.
Please see our drop down menu for more information about our Sixth form and what we have to offer.
