• Peripatetic Instrumental Teachers (Self Employed)

  Overview

  We are seeking inspiring, enthusiastic, and highly skilled Peripatetic Instrumental Teachers (Guitar, Violin, Piano/Keyboard, and Woodwind/Brass) to join our thriving Music Department. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, 1:1 and small group instrumental lessons to students of varying ages and abilities from age 6 to 18. Our pupils are happy, confident young people, we are an experienced, caring and inclusive school, it’s our responsibility to see they excel.

   

  Responsibilities & Requirements

  Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver dynamic and engaging individual and small group instrumental lessons.  
  • Plan tailored lessons that cater to different learning styles and skill levels. 
  • Prepare students for graded music exams, GCSE performances, and school showcases. 
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and reports.  

    

  Requirements: 

  • A degree or diploma in Music (or equivalent performance/teaching qualification).  
  • Proven experience teaching your specialist instrument(s) to children and young people.  
  • Strong subject knowledge and exceptional technical performance skills.  
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures in an educational setting (an enhanced DBS check will be required).  
  • A patient, encouraging, and highly organised approach to teaching. 

   

  Personal Attributes: 

  • A proven track record in raising pupil attainment; 
  • An understanding of how children learn and the complexities of this process;  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships; 
  • The ability to be kind, positive and committed to the school’s inclusive ethos; 

Salary

Salary £36 per hour

Piano/Keyboard - estimated 5-6 hours of teaching

Violin/Viola/Cello - estimated 2 hours of teaching

Guitar – Group and individual lessons across whole school, estimated 2 full days of teaching

Woodwind – Group lessons, estimated 1 hour of teaching

Brass –  Currently only 1 hour of teaching but we are keen to build up provision

Teachers who are able to teach multiple instruments should make a note of their ability level in each instrument when applying.
