sOMOS lAMBETH

This is the second year of Lambeth's SOMOS Lambeth initiative and Woodmansterne's first year of involvement.  SOMOS Lambeth is an LSP initiative that focuses on raising the achievement and profile of Portuguese-speaking pupils in Lambeth. Lambeth is home to one of the largest Portuguese-speaking populations in the UK and, as of 2018, Portuguese-speaking pupils make up 7% of Lambeth’s total school population. SOMOS Lambeth was created to improve pupils' educational experience and to narrow the attainment gap of 
Portuguese-speaking pupils.

SOMOS LAMBETH has the following three strands:

• An improved offer for Portuguese-speaking pupils in Lambeth schools
• Celebrating Portuguese-speaking Identity in Lambeth
• Supporting Families and Community Collaboration

At Woodmansterne school, Portuguese is a widely spoken language and we are very proud of our lusophone community. The SOMOS Lambeth champion is Miss Di Luzio who is responsible for organizing events. Our Portuguese-speaking teacher champion is Mr. Rigby.
