Welcome to Woodmansterne

On behalf of the pupils, staff, parents and governors of Woodmansterne School, I am delighted to welcome you to our website where you are able to find more information about our school and get a glimpse into the life of the school community.

It was an absolute privilege having double Olympic gold medallist Max Whitlock officially open our new primary building on Monday, 26th June. Max entered the school hall on his hands to the absolute delight of the children and staff! He talked to the children about his training schedule and healthy eating and our School Council quizzed him on his training routine, healthy eating and top tips for success. The children were in absolute awe of Max’s dedication and commitment to achieving his dream.  It was a fantastic opportunity for our budding gymnasts to take part in a gymnastics workshop and see an Olympian demonstration. We are sure that Max’s visit will be a source of inspiration for some future Woodmansterne champions.

We are extremely proud of our school, our high expectations, shared values and family ethos. Woodmansterne is an outstanding school that provides a secure and happy environment for children to reach their full potential. We closely monitor academic, physical and social progress, providing support and challenge as appropriate to every child’s needs. Our children make outstanding progress consistently above national averages.

The Woodmansterne way of behaving, communicating, learning and leading is underpinned by our six core values of Cooperation, Aspiration, Respect, Integrity, Responsibility and Unity. These values embody our ethos and are at the heart of everything we do at Woodmansterne.

Woodmansterne is a vibrant, successful and happy school where we celebrate our cultural and ethnic diversity. This is reflected in our rich, creative and engaging curriculum. Pupils learn from each other in a spirit of co-operation and respect. We take pride in developing academic achievement, a sense of responsibility, confidence and aspiration. Our dedicated and supportive PTFA actively fundraise throughout the year to further enhance the children’s school experience.

We believe children learn best when support and encouragement comes from a genuine partnership between school and home. We ask that our families work with us to improve the prospects for all our pupils.

It is a very exciting time in Woodmansterne’s history. We are a growing school, expanding year on year since 2015 to 4 forms of entry, moving into our new Primary building in February 2017 and beginning our Secondary Phase in September 2017.

We look forward to working with you over the coming years.

 Samantha Palin

 Class of 2024 Exam Results

Congratulations to Y13 and Y11 on their fantastic results! Our Y11 Record Breakers were true to their name and produced our best ever GCSE results,as were our Y13 Pioneers with our first ever A Level results.

Once again Woody Y11 pupils have outperformed when compared to National averages

78% of pupils achieved English & Maths at Grade 4 and above (up 6% on last year).

  • 58% of pupils achieved English & Maths at Grade 5 and above (up 9% on last year).
  • 32% of pupils achieved a Grade 7-9 (A-A**) in Maths and 24% achieved a Grade 7-9 (A-A**) in English - that's nearly a quarter of our pupils achieving the top grades!

Over two thirds of our first Y13 cohort achieved grades of A* - C or equivalent at A Level/BTEC and we are delighted to see them taking the next step into Higher Education.

Check out X (formally known as Twitter) @Woody_Secondary to read more about our pupils' achievements and next steps.
